The child height calculator employs a combination of formulas and statistical data to estimate a child's potential adult height based on six key variables: the child's gender, age, height, weight, and the heights of both the mother and father.

Additionally, an alternative method known as the gender-specific mid-parental three-step method can also be utilized:

1. First Step: Combine the heights of both parents, regardless of whether they are provided in inches or centimeters.
2. Mid-parental Height: Calculate using the formula: (mother’s height + father’s height) / 2
3. Second Step: Adjust the value obtained in the previous step by adding 5 inches (13 cm) for male children or subtracting 5 inches for female children.
4. Third Step: Divide the result from step two by two to derive the predicted adult height of the child.

The formula for predicting height is as follows:
